As of today, Gary Ginstling has taken on the role of President & CEO of the orchestra, while Deborah Borda has retired. Gustavo Dudamel, who recently left his position at Paris Opéra, will have to adjust his plans for New York without the guidance of his longtime partner. The upcoming months are expected to be filled with interesting developments.
Ginstling, aged 56, joins the orchestra from the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, DC.
He expresses: 'This orchestra has a remarkable history, and our recent achievements have been groundbreaking. We have endless aspirations for the future. Despite the changing world around us, one thing remains truer than ever: our unwavering belief in the transformative power of the arts. The potential for building strong connections among our musicians, audiences, and community knows no bounds. It is a great privilege to assume the role of President & CEO of the NY Phil at this crucial moment.'
