Hilary Hahn to be NY Philharmonic's Artist-in-Residence for 2022-23 Season: An Exciting Lineup of Concertos and Solo Works

Hilary Hahn will be the NY Philharmonic's Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence for the two thousand twenty-two-23 season. She'll carry out with the NY Phil in two orchestral programs, performing Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. one and, later, Ginastera’s Violin Concerto and Sarasate’s Carmen Fantasy. She’ll also carry out at an Artist Spotlight concert that concludes the cycle of J.S. Bach’s Sonatas and Partitas for solo violin she began this month. Three-time Grammy Award–winning violinist Hilary Hahn is currently the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Wigmore Hall's Artist-in-Residence. She's also the co-founder and vice president of artistic partnerships of the AI-music initiative Deepmusic.AI.

A prolific performer and recording artist, she's released twenty-two feature albums on Decca, Deutsche Grammophon, and Sony have all opened in the top ten of the Billboard charts. Committed to sharing her experiences with a global community, Her Instagram-based practice initiative, #100daysofpractice, has built a global community around a process that's frequently isolating.

This season Hahn performs concertos by Brahms, Sibelius, Dvořák, Tchaikovsky, and Prokofiev, as well as Rautavaara’s Deux Sérénades in its US premiere. In addition to recitals of works by Lera Auerbach and Prokofiev in London and Berlin, she performs solo works by J.S. Bach in London, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Hilary Hahn’s numerous awards and recognitions comprise the eleventh Annual Glasshütte Original Music Festival Award, which she donated to the Philadelphia-based music education nonprofit Project four hundred forty, the Herbert von Karajan Award, and Musical America’s two thousand twenty-three Artist of the Year. After delivering the keynote speech of the Second Annual Women in Classical Music Symposium in two thousand twenty-first, she was the 2022 Chubb Fellow at Yale University’s Timothy Dwight College. She also holds honorary doctorates Middlebury College and Ball State University.
