Harmonizing Austin's Musical Landscape: ATX Chamber Music and Jazz Unveils Inaugural Concert Season
Серпень 19, 2023

Residents of Austin have a knack for easily discovering and attending live performances in the downtown area. While this might not seem remarkable, it's actually quite challenging in other parts of the country. However, even in Austin, many people have never taken the plunge into the world of jazz clubs, perhaps because they worry they might not fit the "jazzy" mold.

Nevertheless, Austin lives up to its claim as the "Live Music Capital of the World." A novel nonprofit organization is now inviting audiences to explore more sophisticated music genres. The inaugural concert season of ATX Chamber Music and Jazz is set to begin this fall, featuring a lineup of esteemed classical and jazz artists.

The organization recently revealed that the first season will debut on October 6 and 7. The Grammy Award-winning ensemble Time for Three (TF3) will take the stage, setting the tone for the diverse musical season ahead. Their performance will blend Americana, modern pop, and classical influences.

Throughout the 2023-2024 season, attendees can anticipate an exclusive concert experience designed to engage the audience. This will include pre-concert discussions, opportunities to meet the artists, and lively happy hour events.

The annual series will encompass a range of venues, from grand shows at the Paramount Theater to more intimate and exclusive gatherings at the Parker Jazz Club and the Pershing Club. The latter two venues might be unfamiliar to casual listeners, as chamber music is typically suited for more intimate spaces. Additionally, there will be free events hosted in community settings such as libraries and schools.

Geoffrey Herd, ATX Music's Co-Founder, CEO, and Co-Artistic Director, emphasized the uniqueness of ATX Music: "There has never been anything like ATX Music in Austin before." He explained that the organization aims to provide unparalleled access to top-tier artists, coupled with luxury dining and social experiences.

ATX Music was established this year by Geoffrey Herd and Peter Naimoli. Their combined artistic and business backgrounds drive their mission to make classical and jazz music immersive and accessible. The dynamic and eclectic atmosphere of Austin aligns perfectly with this vision.

Anna Petrova, Co-Artistic Director of ATX Music, highlighted Austin's vibrant music-loving community and innovative spirit as the ideal backdrop for their venture. She stated, "The city has a robust and passionate audience of music lovers and listeners, and its innovative vibe and youthful energy make an ideal landscape to develop a unique series such as ours."

Ensemble ATX, a resident chamber music society, boasts a highly accomplished lineup of musicians, including Geoffrey Herd (violin), Clive Greensmith (cello), Anna Petrova (piano), Milena Pajaro-van de Stadt (viola), and Molly Carr (viola).

The inaugural performance featuring TF3 is scheduled for October 6 at 7:30 pm at the Paramount Theatre. The following day, attendees can gather at the Pershing Club at 7:30 pm for a chance to meet the Grammy-Award winners, explore an art exhibit showcasing local creatives, enjoy music by local jazz artists, and savor Austin-inspired cuisine and cocktails.

A particularly anticipated event on December 2 will bring Ensemble ATX together with renowned French pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet at the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs Mansion.
