The former residence of composer George Frideric Handel has recently reopened to the public after undergoing an extensive two-year renovation project. The restoration, which cost £3 million, has transformed the property into the 'Handel Hendrix House' (HHH), honoring not only Handel but also the famous American rock guitarist Jimi Hendrix, who occupied the adjoining flat in 1968. Since 2001, the house has served as a museum, and it now features exhibitions dedicated to both musical icons.

Handel took up residence in the house during the summer of 1723 and remained there until his passing in 1759. This renovation project marks the first time that the entire house, including the basement, ground floor, and upper floors, is open to the public. The restoration team, working under the project name 'Hallelujah Project,' received assistance from a comprehensive inventory of the house's contents, which had been compiled upon Handel's death. In addition, the house now showcases recently acquired artworks that were once displayed by Handel himself.

Simon Daniels, the director of HHH, expressed his delight in restoring Handel's house and his enthusiasm for sharing the life and music of London's esteemed composer with more visitors, schools, and the local community. Daniels also emphasized the timeless quality and emotional impact of Handel's music, noting its ability to inspire and move people even today, as demonstrated during the recent Coronation.

The rooms in the adjacent house, where Jimi Hendrix resided on the first floor, have been transformed into temporary exhibition spaces. These areas now offer new displays, exhibitions, live music, and talks, providing visitors with a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of Hendrix alongside the legacy of Handel.
