The Cologne Philharmonic of Germany is set to welcome Ewa Bogusz-Moore as its new artistic director and managing director starting August 1, 2025, succeeding Louwrens Langevoort, who has held the position since August 1, 2005.
Following a rigorous application process supported by the personnel consulting firm Egon Zehnder, the search committee presented two candidates to the Supervisory Board, among which Bogusz-Moore was chosen.
Bogusz-Moore, originally trained as a cellist, pursued studies in cultural management at the University of London and initiated successful festival projects in the UK. With a background in various roles within the international cultural sector, she has served as the general director of the Polish Radio National Symphony Orchestra since 2018 and previously held positions such as deputy director of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute. She also assumed the role of Co-CEO of the European Union Youth Orchestra in October 2022.
Expressing confidence in the selection, Chairman of the Supervisory Board Lord Mayor Henriette Reker stated, "I am delighted to introduce Ewa Bogusz-Moore, a highly experienced international cultural manager, as the successor to the 20-year director Louwrens Langevoort. Her exceptional professionalism and comprehensive approach to artistic, programmatic, and economic challenges were evident during the interview process."
Stefan Charles, Head of Culture, emphasized Bogusz-Moore's strategic vision and her potential to bring both innovation and stability to the Cologne Philharmonic. He highlighted her role in shaping outstanding programs for the Philharmonic and positioning it more prominently on the international stage.
