Established in 2013 and headquartered in Québec, Canada, Mécénat Musica is a cultural initiative designed by and for patrons aiming to safeguard the future of arts and cultural endeavors.

The program encourages individuals to make a perpetual donation of $25,000 to a cultural institution of their choice, while also urging philanthropic families to match these contributions with donations of $250,000 or $2.5 million.

Having recently attained its goal of amassing $100 million in perpetual capital for Québec's cultural institutions, the initiative has garnered support from over 700 major donations from individuals and families.

The $100 million fund is overseen by three collaborative community foundations — the Foundation of Greater Montreal, the Jewish Community Foundation of Montreal, and the Foundation Québec Philanthrope — generating $5 million in annual revenue in perpetuity for 50 cultural organizations throughout Québec.

Furthermore, these 50 organizations collectively employ over 5,000 artists each year, encompassing various fields such as music, festivals, theater, museums, visual arts, and dance. They are located across Montreal, Quebec City, Laval, and the regions of la Capitale-Nationale, Montérégie, Chaudière-Appalaches, Lanaudière, Centre-du-Québec, and Gaspésie.

Contributors to the $100 million fund include board members from cultural organizations, entrepreneurs, retirees, as well as 76 musicians and artists, 50 investment managers, health professionals, accountants, lawyers, engineers, and educators.

Mécénat Musica expressed gratitude to its Donors in Residence, Jacques Marchand and Marie-Christine Tremblay, whose leadership led to over 100 Mécénat Musica donors supporting 23 cultural organizations, ensuring the perpetuation of cultural vitality for future generations.

To commemorate this significant milestone, the organization has invited contributors to attend a concert at Maison Symphonique on Mother's Day, May 11, 2025.
