The Edmonton Opera has revealed its programming for the upcoming 2025-26 Season.
Artistic Director Joel Ivany shared in an official announcement, "Our 2026/26 season explores themes of heritage, preservation, and reinvention. We're bringing together opera's most celebrated works alongside innovative new compositions, inviting our audience to participate in Edmonton Opera's continuing legacy as we mark 62 years in the community."

The season begins with "Opera al Fresco," an outdoor performance staged among the picturesque settings of the University of Alberta Botanic Gardens on August 27, 2025.

Following this, "Bravi! Opera's Greatest Hits" will celebrate opera's most enduring and powerful musical selections in collaboration with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. Under Joel Ivany's artistic direction and Simon Rivard's conducting, soloists Zachary Rioux and Miriam Khalil will perform celebrated pieces from composers including Verdi, Puccini, Mozart, and Bizet. Performances are scheduled for October 9 and 11, 2025.

The Rumbold Vocal Prize competition will take place on November 21, 2025.

The EPIC Market will host "Handel at the Market," featuring magnificent choruses from Händel's "Messiah" from December 4-7, 2025.

February 5-7, 2026 marks the world premiere of "Indians on Vacation" by Ian Cusson and Royce Vavrek. Simon Rivard will conduct a distinguished cast featuring Marion Newman, Julie Lumsden, Grant Youngblood, Keely McPeek, Giles Tomkins, and Evan Korbut.

The "Dianne Kipnes Valentine's Gala" will be hosted at the Fairmount Hotel Macdonald on February 12, 2026.

The season concludes with Wagner's "Siegfried," the third installment in Jonathan Dove's arrangement. Simon Rivard will conduct performers including Jaclyn Grossman, Sydney Frodsham, Dion Mazerolle, Midori Marsh, and Alex Halliday, with performances running from May 25-31, 2026.
