Opera Australia has revealed that Angelina Thomson will take on the role of Miss Adelaide in its upcoming production of the Broadway musical Guys & Dolls.

Thomson was selected following a thorough nationwide search to find the ideal performer with the right combination of vocal talent, dance ability, and comedic flair for the role. She previously appeared as part of the ensemble in the 2019 production of West Side Story at Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour, and this will be her first time in a lead role on the iconic outdoor stage.

Expressing her excitement, Thomson shared, "Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour is definitely one of my favorite events of the year. To return in a leading role at this legendary Sydney venue feels like a dream come true!"

Director Shaun Rennie commented, "Miss Adelaide requires an incredible voice to perform iconic songs like 'Adelaide’s Lament' and 'Take Back Your Mink,' but she also needs to dance, exude charm, and have a big heart. The audience needs to fall in love with her, and I believe Angelina has all the qualities we’ve been searching for. She will be part of an exceptionally talented cast of Australian performers, along with a brilliant ensemble of the country’s finest singers and dancers."

Thomson will join a star-studded cast that includes Cody Simpson, Annie Aitken, Bobby Fox, and Jason Arrow.

Guys & Dolls will premiere on March 21, 2025.
