Renowned soprano Angel a Gheorghiu has been awarded the Excellence Award by CONAF Romania and the Women in Economy.
Gheorghiu shared her excitement on social media, expressing gratitude: “My deepest thanks to my dear friend Emil Hurezeanu for the wonderful laudatio. It was a joy to reconnect with familiar faces at the event.”
Widely regarded as one of the finest sopranos of her era, Gheorghiu has graced the stages of the world’s leading opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, Wiener Staatsoper, Teatro alla Scala, and Paris Opera. Her accolades include the “La Medaille Vermeille de la Ville de Paris” and the titles of “Officier de l’Ordre des Arts et Lettres” and “Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et Lettres” from the French Ministry of Culture.
In her native Romania, she has been distinguished with the “Star of Romania,” the country’s highest honor bestowed by the President, as well as the title of “Doctor Honoris Causa” from the University of Arts in Iași and the University of Bucharest. Additionally, she is a recipient of the European Cultural Award for Music.
Gheorghiu’s next performance is scheduled at the Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford. This upcoming concert promises to showcase her extraordinary vocal talent, continuing her legacy of captivating audiences worldwide with her emotive performances and unparalleled artistry.
