Alexandra Lacroix has been appointed as the new General and Artistic Director of Angers Nantes Opéra, succeeding Alain Surans starting September 1, 2024. She will assume the position full-time from January 1, 2026.

Lacroix, who co-founded Cie MPDA, is known for her work including writing the libretto and directing productions such as “The Carmen Case” and “Be My Superstar” in collaboration with the ENOA network of the Aix-en-Provence Festival.

The decision was announced following a meeting of the jury on June 12, which included Johanna Rolland, Mayor of Nantes; Jean-Marc Verchère, Mayor of Angers; and Nicolas Dufetel, President of Angers Nantes Opéra.
