The Curtis Opera Theatre continues its Centennial Series with a production of Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro.
The opera will be staged on February 27–28 and March 1–2, 2025, at the Perelman Theater in the Kimmel Center.
The performance will be conducted by Nicholas McGegan, with direction by Marcus Shields. The role of Figaro will be shared by Robert Frazier and Evan Gray, while Nathan Schludecker and Emilio Vasquez will play Count Almaviva. Susanna will be portrayed by Sarah Fleiss and Juliette Tacchino, with Emily Damasco and Kylie Kreucher taking on the role of Countess Almaviva. Katie Trigg will play Cherubino, the pageboy.
Other cast members include Judy Zhuo as Marcellina, Yulin Yan as Bartolo, Jackson Allen as Don Basilio, Hongrui Ren as Don Curzio, Dalia Medovnikov and Maya Mor Mitrani as Barbarina, and Ross Macatangay as Antonio.
McGegan expressed his excitement about the production, saying, “I’m absolutely thrilled to return to Curtis and conduct Le Nozze di Figaro, a work I’ve cherished for over sixty years. I’m also eagerly anticipating collaborating with the students in the opera program and the orchestra. I’m confident that Marcus’ direction will bring something special to this production, and I’m so pleased to be part of the team bringing Mozart’s masterpiece to life on stage.”
