A former Kapellmeister at the Ct of Dresden, Wagner, who d Rienzi, Der Fliegende Holländer and Tannhär in the Saxon capital, invites himself to the Dresdner Musikfestspiele in an original version. At the instigation of its director January Vogler and Kent Nagano, the artistic director of the project, the festival wants to rediscover Wagner’s sound by using historical instruments and the linguistic fashion of the time of the creation.
As a result of this musicological research, the Ring will be performed two thousand twenty-three onwards by the Dresden Festival Orchestra and the Concerto Köln. The first performance of “Das Rheingold” in the Dresden Kulturpalast on fourteenth June two thousand twenty-three marks the official launch of the project.
