Opéra National du Rhin Unveils 2025-26 Season Lineup

The Opéra national du Rhin has revealed its program for the 2025-26 season, showcasing a vibrant array of performances.

Handel’s Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno features Mélissa Petit, Julia Lezhneva, Carlo Vistoli, and Krystian Adam, with Thibault Noally leading the orchestra.

Performance Date: September 14, 2025

Verdi’s Otello stars Issachah Savage, Errin Duane Brooks, Adriana Gonzalez, and Daniel Miroslaw. Directed by Ted Huffman and conducted by Speranza Scappucci, the production runs from October 29 to November 18, 2025.

A recital featuring Christian Immler, Julie Depardieu, and Helmut Deutsch is scheduled for November 7, 2025.

Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel brings together Patricia Nolz, Julietta Aleksanyan, Damien Gastl, Madeleine Shaw, Spencer Lang, and Louisa Stirland, under the baton of Christoph Koncz and direction of Pierre-Emmanuel Rousseau.

Performance Dates: December 7, 2025–January 11, 2026

Marina Viotti, joined by Todd Camburn and Antoine Brochot, will present a program of works by Ravel, Weill, Poulenc, Britten, Bolcom, Gershwin, Ferré, and Brel on December 16, 2025.

Korngold’s Das Wunder der Heliane, directed by Jakob Peters-Messer and conducted by Robert Houssart, features Jennifer Holloway, Josef Wagner, Ric Furman, Kai Rüütel-Pajula, Damien Pass, Paul McNamara, and Massimo Frigato.

Performance Dates: January 21–February 1, 2026

Sabine Devieilhe and Mathieu Pordoy will perform a recital with music by Franz Schubert, Franz Liszt, Richard Strauss, Lili Boulanger, Germaine Taillefer, Cécile Chaminade, and Edith Piaf on January 30, 2026.

Francis Poulenc’s Les Mamelles de Tirésias will showcase Jessica Hopkins, Louisa Stirland, Pierre Romainville, Thomas Chenhall, Eduard Ferenczi Gurban, Massimo Frigato, Inès Prevet, and Brigitta Listra.

Performance Dates: March 8–27, 2026

Lalo’s Le Roi d’Ys, directed by Olivier Py and conducted by Samy Rachid, stars Patrick Bolleire, Anaïk Morel, Lauranne Oliva, Julien Henric, and Jean-Kristof Bouton.

Performance Dates: March 11–29, 2026

Pene Pati and Mathieu Pordoy will perform a selection of works by Fauré, Massenet, Gounod, and Tosti on March 16, 2026.

Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, directed by Mathilda du Tillieul McNicol and conducted by Corinna Niemeyer, features John Brancy, Andreea Soare, Lysandre Châlon, Camille Chopin, and Juliette Mey.

Performance Dates: April 28–May 31, 2025

Huw Montague Rendall and Hélio Vida will present a recital of music by Gabriel Fauré and British songs on April 29, 2026.

In addition to the rich lineup of operas and recitals, the Opéra national du Rhin will host a series of educational and community outreach programs to complement the 2025-26 season. These initiatives, designed to engage audiences of all ages, include pre-performance talks, workshops with artists, and special events exploring the historical and cultural significance of the season’s repertoire. For instance, a lecture series on Handel’s Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno and Verdi’s Otello will offer insights into their musical and dramatic innovations.
