Lincoln Center Theater has unveiled plans to present Gian Carlo Menotti’s “Amahl and the Night Visitors” during its 2025-26 season, with celebrated soprano Joyce DiDonato leading the cast.
The opera will launch preview performances on December 16, marking the theater’s first-ever family-focused holiday production, staged in partnership with The Metropolitan Opera.
Under the direction of Tony Award-winning director Kenny Leon, this rendition will offer a vivid and acoustically intimate take on Menotti’s cherished score, bringing out the deep emotional resonance of the classic work.
The production is set to run for 23 performances.
During the same season, Joyce DiDonato will also appear in the Met’s production of “Innocence” and take part in the world premiere of Kevin Puts’ “House of Tomorrow.”
