Daniel Song Appointed Interim CEO and COO of LA Philharmonic, Succeeding Chad Smith

The LA Philharmonic has named Daniel Song, the orchestra’s chief operating officer, as interim chief executive officer and chief operating officer, effectively immediately. He succeeds Chad Smith, who announced latest week that he'll step down as the LA Phil’s CEO late this summer to become president and CEO of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Song has extensive information of the LA Phil, having begun his career with the organization in two thousand-fourth in the areas of philanthropy, artistic planning, and orchestra management.

After a period as vice president and common manager of the Aspen Music Festival and School, he returned to the LA Phil in two thousand-seventeenth in the role of vice president, Philharmonic and production. In this role, he oversaw management of the orchestra, concert production, stage facilities, touring, and media recordings and projects. In June two thousand twenty-one, Song was named chief operating officer, expanding his portfolio to comprise operation and stewardship of all four LA Phil venues: Walt Disney Concert Hall, Hollywood Bowl, The Ford, and Beckmen YOLA Center.
