The Board of the Fondazione Pergolesi Spontini, under the leadership of General Director Lucia Chiatti, has unanimously appointed Cristian Carrara as the next Artistic Director, effective December 2027.

The Board expressed their gratitude to Carrara for his efforts over recent years and endorsed his goals and programmatic strategies, which aimed at strengthening the Festival’s identity not only in Jesi and Maiolati but also in the surrounding small municipalities through high-quality initiatives.

In a statement, Carrara expressed his appreciation for the board’s renewed confidence. He noted that the positive outcomes achieved thus far affirm the correctness of the current direction and serve as motivation to enhance and focus on programming for the upcoming three years, on which he will immediately begin work.

Carrara's career includes positions with the Teatro Lirico di Trieste, Orchestra della Toscana, Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice, Santa Barbara Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Slovenian Philharmonic, and Berliner Philharmoniker.
