The Bayerische Staatsoper has introduced its own official streaming service, Staatsoper.tv.
In a recent statement, the company revealed that this new platform will serve as a gateway to the world, offering audiences across the globe direct access to the outstanding performances from the Munich Nationaltheater. Whether it’s grand opera, world-class ballet, or acclaimed symphonic works, Staatsoper.tv allows viewers to enjoy a curated selection of live broadcasts as well as on-demand content. Additionally, the service includes historic footage, concert performances, and innovative new digital formats.
Further elaborating on the launch, the company noted that Staatsoper.tv consolidates all video and audio content from the Bayerische Staatsoper, Bayerisches Staatsballett, and Bayerisches Staatsorchester into a single, centralized platform. This marks the first time such a collection has been made available in one place—completely free of charge. The platform also offers behind-the-scenes features and aims to create a digital home for anyone passionate about music, drama, and artistic variety.
Currently, the platform is showcasing full productions of operas like Andrea Chenier, La Favorite, Mefistofele, and Tosca. In addition, it offers selected audio recordings, including performances of La Traviata and Alcina featuring the celebrated soprano Anja Harteros.
With Staatsoper.tv, the Bayerische Staatsoper is expanding its reach, embracing digital innovation, and making its artistic treasures accessible to a global audience at no cost.
